Would you like a theater ticket with your pasta?

Opportunity: Winning new clients by combining services

I’m not a very big fan of pasta (I eat them only now and then…mostly then rather than now) but I like a lot to go to theater. In Bucharest, however, you have to buy tickets well in advance to be sure that you will have a seat reserved. Secondly you have to allocate a lot of time to go to the theater and buy tickets (I don’t walk by theaters every day). Of course you can buy tickets on-line from specific agencies and they will bring it straight to your home…but adding the commission they charge for this service almost doubles the price of the ticket …it’s worthwhile only if you buy more than two or three tickets).

What is the connection between pasta and theater tickets? Apparently none…it’s not a new fashion in Bucharest to eat pastas while you watch a theater play (at least as far as I know).

However there is one link made by the same catering company who sells and deliver not only food but theater tickets (if you want to “feed” your spirit and not only your body). Right now you may buy tickets for only one play (different every week) and the price is the same like the one from the theater.

Once a business has defined its core competencies, these can be used to address other consumer needs at very little or no extra cost - in this case, the excellent delivery services can delivery more value with dropping off a theater ticket or tickets. This also helps to build a sense of community as users of the service might log on just to see what ticket is available this week and be encouraged to order more food.
