Take it away while I’m gone

Opportunity: offering summer storing space for students

I’ve been having a problem for 3 summers now. Every time I go home after the college year ends, I’m having trouble with the transport of my things. As you can imagine, I’m not carrying just a backpack…

I found a solution on springwise. It’s a service that offers summer storage services for students. You are given some containers one week before you have to leave and when you are set, they come, pick up your things and store them for you. When you come back to school they deliver the goods to your new room.

We are looking at around 150.000 students in 45 state-owned Universities that don’t study in their home town and add to this the students from the other 49 private-owned College. People in Romania would not pay as much as dorm2dorm asks, but the cost structure to deliver the services should be lower.

Moreover the entire “storage” niche seems to have been neglected so far, as such kind of services barely exist, if ever.

To be continued…

It might work… for the summer. What about the rest of the year? What would they store?

Storage might also be needed by anyone who moves to a different city/country for some time, wants to rent the apartment and protect personal belongings. However, with the high costs for any type of buildings in Bucharest, it might be difficult to achieve a cost structure that fits the budgets of most college students.

I think that the business should be focused on renting storage space in general….because specializing only on a niche and this being the students would not be profitable for anyone. It would be more profitable for a business to rent refrigerators, furniture,TV’s and even computers….things that students usually bring from home. This might be an option for them don’t you think?
