Opportunity: Introduce new fitness activitiesPilates

Cities in Romania are experiencing a rapid growth in the number of fitness centers; their quality is increasing, also. There is still plenty of room, but the first to take a position as outstandingly fun and innovative will have a definite advantage as competition increases.

In Bucharest, for example, the activities offered in fitness centers are mostly the same: aerobics, weight training, tae bo, some dance classes… Very few clubs offer other activities such as Pilates. This could be the differentiating factor that assures the club a loyal following.

Indeed, most of the fitness clubs (more or less called clubs) are in fact gyms - based on the idea that only aerobics and weight lifting. However, the trends are moving in other direction - for women at least - like tae bo, pilates (more and more women are interested in this - I saw on different forums ). I like keeping fit through dance… and even ballet. Ballet classes for not-so-young people is a good idea, to me… I saw different commercials on Euforia for Winsor Pilates video cassettes for women to practice at home, and I’ve heard many are interested in this type of exercise.

Stretching is also another type of physical activity neglected by sport clubs. Well said Elly… (”more or less called clubs”)

I would like to see Pilates courses organised in open space. The main challenge for this would be delivering the service and finding the proper environment in Bucharest. However I would see the courses organised in the weekends and combined with some walks or even trips maybe in Snagov area. What do you think?

I dared to start a martial arts club in Bucharest. The huge work could only help in keeping only one dojo permanently working. Renting spaces is very expensive and people can not afford to pay more than 100 RON per month. So this is more a hobby than a business. Nevrtheless, I have an excellent time there every Monday, Wednesday and Friday with all those willing to learn aikido!!!
