Petite?… Then you’re in big trouble…

Opportunity: Clothes stores for petites

I went this weekend on a long journey in search of suit. A business suit, to be more specific. I was pretty optmistic as the offer seemed reasonable. But to my surprise, there was nothing wearable for me. It’s not that there weren’t too many models, or that I didn’t like any. It’s just that nothing suited me. Nor the skirts, nor the pants. It happened in every store I entered.

Which seems to be the problem? Well, I confess… I’m a petite - pretty short, pretty thin. And no store in Bucharest has the right business clothes for me. And I’m not a unique case. It is a pity that petite women like me don’t have where to buy ready-made suits or dresses, without making major adjustments. In almost all American stores, and in Europe also there is a section for petites.
Investors should definitely think of this, as the customers don’t lack at all. I wrote about similar topics here and here.
Count me first!

I never have this problem but I have another one, directly connected with the idea of business suits - there are not enough shops in Bucharest where you could buy nice business suit. The design is important and also the fabric. There are few shops, I agree, but they come up with couple of models per season…and that’s it…It’s quite a risk buying a nice suit (which sometimes could be quite expensive) and discover that you’ve got yourself a uniforme.

I think the problem is not just the lack of “petites” sections in clothing stores. I wear normal sizes. When visiting in the US I was able to buy almost anything off the shelf, and if it was my size, it would fit perfectly. Here, I can’t find anything that truly fits. I’m not sure what the explanation might be.

I guess the sizes they use are not suitable for us anymore…

Well, I met a Dutch fellow who had the opposite problem. He said he cant buy clothes in Bucharest because they dont have any for tall people like the Dutch.

[...] Following up from Laura’s blog and recalling the adage “as incomes rise, time decreases,” it struck me that one of Laura’s wishes was simply for a pleasant and personal shopping experience, free from the hassle and unpleasant experience of going from store to store only to find nothing in particular that is appealing, and to have to deal with rude salespeople in the meantime. (Something that both men and women can agree on). In Bucharest, this can also be a dirty experience if the shopper has to travel around town to go to various stores for various purchases. [...]
