New policies and standards?…..piece of cake…do you want some?

Opportunity: Processing comprehensive information and selling it back to interested companies
Greenfacts is an NGO based in Brussels whose main role is to translate the latest policies and directives adopted at the level of EU in the areas of Health and Environment for the general public. They analyze the directives or the Green/White Paper that reflects the position of EU on some specific areas, process the information, summarize and re-tell it so that everyone may be able to understand it.
So you’ve heard about IPPC but you were not able to understand quite well the implications and role of the initiative? Well you should read their report where they explain everything so that everybody might get the essential ideas. The information is very well structured on three levels of details so if you did not get it from reading the summary or you want to find some more you can always go to the second and the third level of details.
They are an NGO and they do not charge money for their reports. However the reports are very general and the main purpose is to inform people on different issues. On the other hand this type of activity could rapidly be transformed in a profitable one. There are a lot of directives that are being transposed in the Romanian legislation that will have a direct impact on companies’ activity from different areas. Most of the companies are not even aware that the legislation is to be changed or that they will have to fulfill some different obligations or to get some standards. Usually they find out about that only when they break the law and have to pay the fine (which comes about in mostly all of the cases).
This is a very interesting opportunity for creating a company that creates customized reports and “translates†the new legislation in specific areas (maybe even to inform paying companies when specific legislation and/or standards are being transposed and adopted). The challenge is to be able to market the service so that the companies will perceive it as something they could never live without.

[...] I was writing a couple of weeks ago about the opportunity to process comprehensive information regarding existing legislation and sell it back to interested companies. I accidentally found the web-site of a UK Agency - NetRegs that delivers guidance for small and medium sized enterprises regarding environmental legislation. The web-site has a great structure, the information is very well organized, the areas of interest are pretty well detailed, easy to find and to understand. They are receiving financial support from the government and therefore they do not charge money from their clients. However the level of details that they could offer is not very high. [...]
