micro-payments = big money

Ali Hassan Memon a business and technology analyst with SOPOLEC (who will be joining us in Romania at the beginning of the year) found this comic strip while researching opportunities with Micropayments. The point can be expanded to a variety of industries, beyond music, where new thinking in how artists/inventors/writers/etc are compensated in a way that encourages the creation of interesting things while facilitating access from previously excluded customers.
In short… a little bit of something added up many times equal a big business opportunity. Given that only a small portion of the earth’s population are “affluent” (maybe 500 million to 1 billion, depending how you count it)… finding efficient ways to let customers buy your goods and services through alternative payment mechanisms holds great potential for new revenue streams or entirely new businesses.
Internet connectivity in Romania is rising fast yet not everyone has a visa or mastercard… Those who find a way to sell items within people’s budget and with easy payment methods will have a successful business.
What do you think?

I definitely think it is a good idea for any type of service/product if you find the easy payment method. It would be a great opportunity for beggars as well - with a good story or song they could make a fortune (and in much better “work” conditions):)
