Opportunity: Tourism and team building activities in the wilderness
Two weeks ago I went to the Tourism Fair, quite curious to see how attractive the offers for the Romanian mountains and seaside are compared to those for Bulgaria, or Tunis, or Greece, or Turkey, or Spain, or… you get the idea.
What I found really appealing, though, was the site of Fratii Jderi - promoting adventure programs for team building and relaxation - especially addressed to companies and groups of 16-20 persons. Fratii Jderi Holiday Village is located in a remote place surrounded by mountains and forests, in the Valcea county. The activities take place on site or up the river valley, but also deep into the mountains, and include, among other - bathing under the waterfalls, mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, fishing, sur
vival skills, self-defense techniques, physical and mental training, rafting, archery - everything being customized for the desires of the participants and for the time they spend (min 2 days).
The Fratii Jderi Team is highly experienced and provides full equipment and training, accommodation (in bungalows, villas, suspended shacks, boat houses, even in a built igloo in winter), full menu (traditional Romanian food) and promises an unforgettable experience.
I think it is an excellent business idea that actually works - with a fee of approx 120 Euros/person/day (with all the services included), the village is extremely attractive for foreign groups of people willing to discover the beauty of nature, and for companies - as excellent means for team building. Plus, as I understood from the owners, the business is growing and improvements are made periodically.
Fratii Jderi is not the only company providing this kind of services, similar outdoor team building activities and adventures being offered by companies like: Outward Bound, Romania Gorj Adventure, Adventures4All, Team Adventure, Outextrem or Vertical Adventure.
I will try to contact some of them for more information about their story and will keep you updated. Meanwhile, I’m curious about any opinion, suggestions, ideas, or experience you might want to share on this topic.
