Opportunity: Renting cafe rooms with high-quality home cinema systems
As a big fan - and evangelist - of contemporary classical music, I would like to watch a couple DVDs with some friends. From the three documentaries with minimalist music by Philip Glass - Koyaanisqatsi, Powaqqatsi and Naqoyqatsi to a lovely meditation on the ceremony of Tea in an opera by Chinese composer Tan Dun - these are works that require very high-quality sound and a large screen.
However, none of us is enough of an entertainment freak to invest in such a high-end system. Even if we were, we would rather avoid the hassle of preparing to receive lots of people over when all we want is a relaxing evening. What we’d like to do is rent a room in a nice, homey cafe, bring our own DVDs and enjoy the show while sipping lattes and tea.
Many cafes already have high-quality screens and sound systems. Furthermore, many cafes in Bucharest are located in old villas with many rooms that lend themselves well to this type of arrangement. Opening up this kind of an offering only requires an investmetn to set up a separate sound system for one of the rooms. Rewards would come not only in higher number of guests as groups of friends gather for old movie screenings, watching videos from vacations abroad, etc. - but also from general increased popularity.
