Kingwich!

Three months ago, I wrote about the opportunity to deliver ready-made sandwiches through supermarkets in Bucharest, based on models in the UK and elsewhere.

Yesterday,I noticed that Fonzi, a burgeoning supermarket chain in Bucharest, started offering a promising selection of sandwiches from Kingwich. The selection even includes two different options for vegetarians! It’s enough to persuade me to start buying from Fonzi again (which I had stopped doing when a much larger supermarket opened nearby).
The Kingwich website is still under construction - so I have no more information at this point. I have yet to see other supermarkets offer their products. If you’ve seen Kingwich sandwiches in other places, let us know in the comments.
Interesting observation: Fonzi has exactly two locations at this point: one is located 3 minutes away from our office, the other… 5 minutes away from my home. As a result, I was under the impression that they’re a much larger chain. They’re also the only 24/7 neighborhood supermarket that I know. It’s difficult to believe that Carrefour still closes at 10 PM.
