Opportunity: introducing all-inclusive services to Romania
In an earlier post I was underlining the fact that Romanian tourism is missing the service called all-inclusive. About those all-inclusive hotels, I remembered my trip in 5th grade in an all-inclusive resort: Club Aldiana Siam. It’s part of an exclusive chain of sea-resorts.

Everything is owned by the same company and all activities are done by the same company: sailing, windsurfing, tennis, volley Ball, archery, fitness, aqua-fitness, table tennis, golfing, swimming or just riding a bike.
You never needed to go out for anything; in the resort you were offering services like cosmetics, hair-stylists, a medic’s office, a bar by the pool and so on. The latter turn every night into distinguished entertainers, running shows: dances or plays, with a professionalism which amazed me. During the daytime contests were held at the pool by the same entertainers, they were also excellent chefs.
There is also a kids club, supervised by a professional nanny…to make sure that at the end of the day you get to miss you kids.
It was an experience I will never forget; for 7 days you get to enjoy the best holiday you ever had and at reasonable rates. If you got bored lying in the sun, an entertainer would walk up to you and suggested you do something together: scuba-diving or windsurfing.
I believe that such a resort would have tremendous success in Romania and help attract foreign tourists, don’t you think?

The biggest problem will be the level of services. We all know that Romania has some “trouble” in this area.

Granted. But I believe it can be done. They have professional trainers and ways to motivate their employees.

A big problem with tourism in Romania is the fact that we have seasons. Thailand does too, but there in their cold season you have 27 degrees Celsius, so sea resorts are always open… This leads to permanent jobs:waiters, picolos, cooks etc. Not working 3 months/year allows them to get really good at it and be professional.

It’s true…but dismissing summertime jobs is not an option. How do you explain the poor services in mountain travel? They have activity throughout the year and are still lacking of professionalism.

You have a point but that’s different. Admitted summertime jobs are a must, but there is one thing still missing: professional trainings.
Some Big Companies are implementing them, World Class Fitness for example.

I do not think that we have a low level of services because we have seasons and the personnel (waiters, entertainers etc) are working only 3 months/year. I know a lot of Romanians who are hired in Thailand or Greece and do a great job there….and they are the same guys from Romanian seaside. I think that the right management and personnel motivation are the main factors that influence the quality of service delivering…and this is not linked with ..seasons.
