Opportunity: Technologies for Environmental Protection
Raising the competitiveness of Romanian companies on the common European market is one important objective of the financial support allocated by EU to Romania through Structural Funds. Among other things, there is financing for private and public companies to acquire technologies for environmental protection. This opportunity opens a market for providers of clean technologies meant to protect the environment, which are not too many on the Romanian market (considering that it was not an important concern for companies up to now). Now, with the implementation of new regulations and EU standards for environment, they will have to consider it.
To be more specific, clean technologies should improve the products and the production processes of companies. There is no information yet about the specific economic sectors that are eligible, but it is obvious that SMEs that have production activities will be able to apply for funds. The total value of the project should be of at least 200.000 Euros and EU funds can cover a maximum of 60% of the project cost.

I guess there will be some entrepreneurs that will take advantage of this opportunity and apply for funds with a realistic project. oh, and I’ve noticed there’s an increasing demand for solar pannels - not bad, huh?

This is a good opportunity… but quite difficult to pull off. The process is too cumbersome for most SMEs.
