Opportunity: Private sector renewable energy projects
Energy is an important sector that is to be financed out of the long-awaited E.U. Structural Funds; in particular, the sector that involves production of energy from renewable sources. It is important to note that Romanian authorities have developed a strategy that includes private companies as well and are encouraging private companies to apply for funds.
The national objective is to increase the ratio of renewable energy out of total energy to 33%. One way to reach the objective is to finance private companies to implement viable projects regarding wind, solar, geothermal, biomass and hydro-energy. The financing that may be obtained for developing these kinds of projects ranges from 250.000 Euros to 4.000.000 representing the co-financing from the EU (the beneficiary has to participate as well with at least 30% of the total eligible cost of the project).
This opens opportunities both for private companies willing to implement projects in the area and for the providers of modern technologies for obtaining renewable energy.
