Comedy cafes… It’s time to stand up!

Opportunity: Investments on the cafes market
As I was mentioning in a previous post, the Romanian leisure market follows a positive trend. And no doubt, the investment opportunities are plenty. Investments in cafes, for instance. I cannot but think of the success Cafe Deko has, being the only cafe in Bucharest where comedians stand up and make the audience laugh. I tried on Thursday to make a reservation for Friday’s stand up comedy, but both the Friday and Saturday shows were sold out!!! It seems that Romanians have become huge fans of comedy, as the tickets to the plays at Teatrul de Comedie are sold out 1 week before the show. Moreover, Laptaria lui Enache was amazingly crowded when the comedy “Love lasts 3 years” was played.
A cafe bringing something more to its guests has much to win: the sales figures from selling the regular drinks are increased by a considerable number of tickets sold (at Deko and in Laptarie the ticket is around 15 RON) for 1-2 hours of show. The demand is great and the offer unsatisfying. Why not respond to the audience’s needs? Hiring a few talented drama students/fresh graduates/amateurs to stand up in front of the crowd, interact with them and make them laugh - whether a stand up comedy show or a comedy play, and a good promotion strategy (there are plenty online and offline Bucharest guides- e.g. Sapte Seri, B24FUN, Afterhours) can turn a cafe into a favourite meeting place.
Comedy in a cafe. Would anyone else like to join me for a hot cup of… fun? Cheers.

suna bine, ca oportunitate. dar perfect valabila si aplicabila doar in orasele mari. Motivele …le intuiesti, desigur.

Mie unul ideea asta imi place. Inca de cand eram mic si ma uital la Seinfeld si la al sau Improv, unde isi tinea stand-up comedy am ramas :-O.

Ce cand erai mic? La 20 de ani am facut rost de toata Seria Seinfeld…am tras draperia…5 zile de carantina…pana n-am vazut si ultimul episod nu m-am miscat din casa.
A se vedea toate serialele de comedie care au succes in Romania: Friends, Married with Children, 2 Barbati si jumatate….
Romanilor le place comedia, si daca o pot savura si in compania prietenilor cu atat mai mult.

It’s a very good ideea;last year I had the opportunity to see a stand-up comedy show and I have to admit :I loved it! I hope soon someone will open such place in Brasov; I’ll be a faithfull costumer for sure.

There must be many opportunities in entertainment… even more interesting would be classes in creative arts - painting, music, pottery, gourmet cooking, etc…
