Clean and sober? Well…at least the clean part.

Opportunity:Â offering self-laundering services
My colleague Alex wrote recently about the good prospects for a Laundromat in Romania. A few additions to this idea – already proven successful elsewhere – would make this even more successful.
In university towns and hip urban areas across the United States, Laundromats have often been combined with a component critical to a successful clothes cleaning experience….. Beer. Having a bar available for use during the long wait between wash and drying cycles creates a great social atmosphere for time that would normally be wasted on studying or reading a good novel.
Alternatively… If the Laundromat is located near a particularly studious crowd, the place could contain comfortable chairs and desks, wireless internet access, maybe a laser printer, and a coffee counter. Some other Laundromats even include full café menus as does Brainwash in San Francisco, California.
In short, making sure the two hours can be spent with more than just cleaning some clothes would create a loyal clientele and profitable opportunities.
With what would you combine a Laundromat in Romania?

Maybe a Laundromat and a Notary Public office

It’s true…but dismissing summertime jobs is not an option. How do you explain the poor services in mountain travel? They have activity throughout the year and are still lacking of professionalism.

[...] A few months ago my colleagues wrote about the potential opportunity in self serve laundramats (see what Alex wrote and Steve’s response) complete with wireless access and bar service. Indeed, in my month in Bucharest I’ve noticed a dearth of dry cleaners and laudramats. It appears standard to either (1) launder one’s clothes in a small washing machine in the kitchen, that holds about four articles of clothing, and then adorn the apartment with drying clothes, or perhaps (2) ship one’s laundry off to a charitable relative. In addition to self serve laundramats there is a need for a higher tier of service that can same time for customers. [...]
