Braiding, etching, origami…

Opportunity: Crafts and hobbies shop

For a number of years, I volunteered time as a staff member in an organization similar to the “Boy Scouts” - Pathfinders. We organized large, fun ‘Camporees’ - events where children would learn new crafts or improve their performance in a favorite hobby.

As we organized these events, we found that the most challenging problem was sourcing the materials needed for crafts - braiding cord, glass etching materials, leather straps, finger paints, airplane models, origami paper, felt… the list could be very long.

As a nation-wide organization, sometimes one of us would announce that they had found one store in Cluj, for example, that had imported some very good craft kits. That lucky finder usually purchased the entire stock and distributed it to other Pathfinders.

Obviously, there is a huge unmet need for a chain of stores that specialize in crafts materials and also offer online ordering. This would benefit from rapid word-of-mouth advertising as people tell their friends who enjoy the same hobby.

Indeed, it’s very difficult to find such things… It is a good idea to find them all in one place - this will be extremely helpful for those who like “customizing” their clothes, accessories, etc … I know I would visit such a store :)…

[...] Also, the sale of teapots, teacups, strainers, and other accessories, as well as all varieties of tea for home use, is at once a great source of revenue (I ended up purchasing accesories worth more than 4 times my consumption!), a constant reminder of the experience for the client, and a great marketing tool, as clients boast to friends about their new accesories and flavours of tea. This strategy - introduce the customer to a world of variety previously unknown, create a highly remarkable experience that people want to share with others, sell take-home items that people will present to their friends - is applicable to many other products such as chocolate, bakery products, ice cream, hobby and craft items and many more. Which do you think would be most welcome by Romanians? Tags:boutique, Food and beverage, specialty, tea, teahouse tearoom Related posts: [...]
