A Blue Penguin loose in Bucharest

Opportunity: offering self-laundering services
My colleague Alex wrote about 10 months ago about how a self-laundering service would be a very profitable business idea, especially if it is located strategically, near an university campus.
So, the other day I wasn’t too surprised when a colleague at the university showed me this flyer.
The Blue Penguin offers self-laundry services at “student prices” 7 days a week. Too bad it’s near another campus, and quite far from mine.
They also noticed, just like Steve has, the opportunity to combine the self-laundering business with a few other services: a computer with internet access, a copy shop and the possibility of ordering customized gifts or souvenirs.
Maybe I’ll pay them a visit while waiting for a laundromat near my campus.
Have you already tried out their services? Do you know of a similar service in Bucharest or another Romanian town?

I am curious why they do not establish more businesses like this. There is definitely a need an interest for this type of service. In many cases the need is fulfilled by students who afford to buy a washing machine and “rents” it to other colleagues from campus (on a small amount of money - with detergent and softener included). However, there is enough place for professional services….and if you combine it with other services it can easily be transformed in a real social networking place. Tell me one student who dislikes the idea!
